Objectives
  • To systematize and to get thoroughly into the study of some theoretical and applied questions on differential and integral calculus in the spaces R, R and Rn (n ≥ 2).
  • To present certain basic results in the domain of real differentiable and integrable vectorial functions.
  • To expose elements of differential equations and their applications.
  • To point out fundamental ideas in real analysis for the benefit of other objects of study at the Faculty of Computer Science.
General thematics Algebraic and topological aspects of the spaces R, R and Rn (n ≥ 2). Real functions of one and several variables (limits, continuity, derivatives and differentials). Basic applications. Definite and indefinite integrals. Multiple integrals. Differential equations.
Seminary / Laboratory thematicsMetrics, norms and inner products on R, R and Rn (n ≥ 2). Remarkable points and sets in Rn (n ∈ N*). Sequences and series of real numbers. Problems on scalar and vectorial continuous real functions. Derivatives and differentials (applications). Simple and multiple integrals (exercises). Improprer integrals. Integrals with parameters. Ordinary differential equations. Partial differential equations of first order (exercises).
Teaching methodsVerbal and written exposure of the most important definitions, results and applications. Heuristic approach using the course and seminary resources – supplied on a special website ( http://thor.info.uaic.ro/~fliacob/ ).

EvaluationconditionsCompulsory participation at the written examination during the semester.
criteriasPresence and activity at the seminaries. Home works achievement. Written examination results.
modesAppreciation (with a bonus) of the frequency and the activity at the seminaries. Marking the written examinations.
formulaNF = MIN( 10, ROUND( (PL+PE) / 2 + B ), where PL = the mark at the written semestrial examination, PE = the mark at the sessional written examination, B = the bonus.
