Abstract
Fast expansion of Grid technologies and of distributed computing on Internet
emphasizes the importance of network performance measurement. The nature of some
network measurements methods like TCP throughput or latency evaluation, are very
sensitive to concurrent measurements that may devalue the results. We present
Probes Coordination Protocol (PCP) which can be used to schedule different
network monitoring tasks. The protocol we propose is designed to be open,
customizable, robust, secure and scalable. We present results of its evaluation
and of experiment periodicity measurements.
